Solutions for Dry ScalpDry scalp is a very common complaint and really begins with a combination of factors like genetics, products used on hair and scalp, diet, general water intake, environmental & your overall general health condition! But, you can take some very easy steps to help improve a dry scalp issue. Avoid using products that clog pores and inhibit natural sebum secreted down the hair shaft. Use a light daily moisturizer or leave-in conditioner that moisturizes and infuses conditioners without build-up. Take the time to give yourself at least a monthly Hot Oil treatment to help moisturize the scalp. Following a gentle shampooing, for Hot Oil treatment, in a little dixie cup warm about an ounce of Oil in a bowl of very warm water, check that Oil is not too hot to apply to the scalp, then spread oil on scalp and gently massage into scalp. Sit under plastic cap with hooded dryer (if available) for 5 minutes. Remove cap, and rinse well with warm water and condition & style as desired. |

Solutions for Dry HairDry hair is also a very common hair care issue and also is impacted by many internal and external factors. Try to deep condition hair at least once a month, because Deep conditioning can help provide intense strengthening and moisturization, and helps “restore” some natural oils lost thru heat styling and, general day to day stresses on hair. Deep conditioning can also enhance your hair’s luster (sheen), elasticity and body. Gently shampoo your hair, and apply the deep conditioner so it completely saturates hair from scalp to ends. Leave on for 15-20 minutes under a thin plastic or thermal “heat cap”, to permit conditioners to penetrate scalp and deep in the hair shaft. Rinse well and style as desired. |

Solutions for Hair Breakage and Split EndsIn general, abuse or misuse of heat styling tools, harsh color treatments with bleach or ammonia or other chemical product over –processing can cause or lead to breakage or split ends. Primary objective should be to prevent hair breakage, as much as possible. Use products to increase “slippage” and detangling, avoid heat styling whenever possible, and don’t pull or stretch wet hair which is more prone to “pop”, and keep hair conditioned for better elasticity. Always try to get a good trim of all hair ends every 3 months, because hair will normally just “fray” or split as the hair ages and is stressed by daily grooming, styling, etc. |

Solutions for Damage from Heat Styling or Over-processingAlways set the heat styling tool setting for a moderate heat...never a high heat setting! Try to use products that help provide a “heat barrier” or protective layer between your hair and the styling tool.... Use ceramic or Overlapping relaxer treatments is called “over-processing”, and it unfortunately contributes to a large majority of hair damage. In over-processing, the hair is chemically treated repeatedly and this can cause dryness, split ends, breakage and even hair thinning or hair loss. All relaxer users must strictly follow the manufacturer’s Prep details and application warnings & Instructions.... for best results. Wrapping hair with a silk or satin head scarf at night is an excellent way to promote healthy hair with less breakage. Pillowcases can cause hair dryness and breakage.
